Gas Heaters -- 12 Models
A gas heater is a space heater that uses natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, propane or butane as fuel to generate heat for residential or outdoor areas. Indoor household gas heaters can be classified according to two principal ventilation systems: flued or non-flued, otherwise known as vented and unvented.
The gas heater warms a whole room by first letting the flame heat the air locally, after which it disperses through the space by convection - the same principle that outdoor patio or mushroom heaters use. Modern gas heaters also include units that use radiant heat technology rather than open-flame convection; radiant heat is not carried by air but absorbed by people and objects in its path, which makes it more economical outdoors.

Three Things That Make These Heaters Different
Why Choose a Gas Heater?
A gas heater is the answer when there is no electrical capacity to spare. An unvented unit converts almost all of the fuel it burns into room heat, and a 30,000 BTU/h blue-flame model will carry roughly 1,000 sq ft without a single cable.
Six reasons gas still wins the large space
Where it honestly loses
Head to head
| Gas heater | Electric heater | |
|---|---|---|
| Energy source | LPG or natural gas | Mains electricity |
| Heat output | Vent-free up to 4.2 kW (EN 449); vented 25,000–45,000 BTU/h | 1.5–3 kW portable |
| Area covered | 30,000 BTU/h ≈ 1,000 sq ft | One room, by convection |
| Ventilation | Required for vent-free; flue for vented | None |
| Installation | Gas pipe or cylinder, no wiring | Circuit and socket |
| Running cost | Usually lower per unit of heat | Higher per unit, but 100% efficient at the element |
| Runtime | 20 lb cylinder ≈ 8–10 h at 45–50k BTU/h | Unlimited while the grid is up |
| Certification | CE / EN 449 / EN 14543 / ANSI Z21.97 | UL / ETL / CE |
So which one should you choose?
Choose a gas heater if…
- There is no electrical capacity available for electric heating
- The space is large — a workshop, garage or warehouse bay
- You can ventilate the space and will fit a CO alarm
- You would rather not pay for a supply upgrade
Choose an electric heater if…
- The room is sealed, or cannot be ventilated
- There is nowhere safe to store or change a cylinder
- You want an appliance with no flame and no refuelling
- Local code restricts unvented gas heaters indoors
What that means for your order book
Gas and electric rarely compete for the same order. A buyer specifying gas is usually solving for a large space with no spare electrical capacity — workshops, garages, agricultural buildings, marquees — and is therefore focused on thermal efficiency, the oxygen-depletion and flame-failure chain, and compliance in the destination market. Because the certification regimes differ sharply between North America and Europe, the first question on any gas enquiry is which standard the order has to meet. Our gas heater line covers 12 models across portable and cabinet formats, with CE / EN 449 / EN 14543 / ANSI Z21.97 conformity and OEM colour, logo and packaging from 30 to 45 days.
Efficiency, output and cylinder-runtime figures follow US Department of Energy guidance on small space heaters and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission material on unvented gas heaters. Clearance and storage rules are from NFPA guidance. Standard references are to EN 449, EN 14543 and ANSI Z21.97. Confirm the specification of the exact model before quoting.
