Kerosene Heaters -- 4 Models

A kerosene heater, also known as a paraffin heater, is typically a portable, unvented, kerosene-fuelled space heating device. In Japan and other countries they are a primary source of home heat; in the United States and Australia they serve as supplemental or emergency heat during a power outage. Most produce 3.3 to 6.8 kilowatts.

A kerosene heater operates much like a large kerosene lamp. A circular wick made from fibreglass or cotton sits in a burner unit above a tank of kerosene and draws fuel up by capillary action. Once lit, the wick heats the kerosene until it turns into a gas, and this gas is burnt to heat air by convection or nearby objects by radiation.

Why Choose

Three Things That Make These Heaters Different

No electricity required

Wick combustion runs on kerosene only -- perfect for power cuts and off-grid use.

Tip-over and flame-failure cut-off

Dual safety shut-off for unattended indoor operation.

8 to 12 hours per tank

Large fuel tank capacity means overnight heating on a single fill.

Kerosene vs Electric

Why Choose a Kerosene Heater?

A wick-fed kerosene heater is the one space heater that keeps working when the electricity does not. There is no blower, no igniter coil and no mains lead — a piezo or battery spark lights it and convection does the rest.

Six reasons kerosene still sells

No electricity at all

Most wick-type kerosene heaters run with zero mains power — a piezo or battery igniter starts them and the flame sustains itself, so they work through an outage.

Around 1,000 sq ft per fill

Convection models deliver 23,500–23,800 BTU/h and heat up to 1,000 sq ft on a 1.9 gal tank — about 12 hours of running.

Long runtime on small units

10,000–10,500 BTU/h radiant models run 15–21 hours on 1.1–1.35 gal, which is why they get used through the night.

Every BTU stays in the room

Because there is no flue, essentially all of the combustion heat is released into the space being heated — no chimney loss to account for.

Dense, cheap fuel

1-K kerosene carries roughly 135,000–139,000 BTU per gallon, among the highest energy density of any portable fuel.

Silent, portable, certified

Convection models have no fan and no moving parts. Cabinet and pedestal units carry a carry handle, tip-over shut-off and an oxygen-depletion sensor.

Where it honestly loses

It puts combustion products indoors

Unvented kerosene releases CO, NO2 and SO2, plus about 2.8 gallons of water vapour per 23,000 BTU/h over an eight-hour run. A cracked window and a CO alarm are not optional — and some US states and cities restrict unvented kerosene heaters indoors altogether.

Open flame and fuel-handling rules

The radiant element runs at roughly 1,400–1,800°F, the fuel has to be 1-K grade, stored properly and topped up outdoors once the unit is cool. Keep 3 ft of clearance and never leave one unattended around children or pets.

So which one should you choose?

Choose a kerosene heater if…

  • Power cuts are a routine part of your winter
  • The space is large and draughty enough that convection beats a small fan heater
  • You want heat with no mains lead and no installation
  • You can ventilate, and you will keep a CO alarm in the room

Choose an electric heater if…

  • The room has to stay sealed, or is used by people who cannot manage fuel
  • You want heat with no smell, no water vapour and no refuelling
  • The local code restricts unvented kerosene indoors
  • You only need to take the chill off one small room

What that means for your order book

Kerosene demand tracks power reliability, not climate. Markets with a fragile grid or a rural off-grid population buy convection cabinets and radiant portables by the container, while markets with reliable electricity buy them mainly for emergency stock and outbuildings. Because the fuel is the constraint rather than the appliance, these buyers care most about wick quality, tank sealing and the safety chain — tip-over shut-off, flame failure and oxygen-depletion sensor. Our kerosene range covers four portable models, with the CE / LVD / EMC / RoHS / ERP marks and OEM colour, logo and packaging from 30 to 45 days.

Output, runtime and fuel-energy figures follow published kerosene heater specifications, the Wikipedia entry on kerosene heaters, and safety guidance from the New York State Department of Health. Confirm the specification of the exact model before quoting.

Wholesale

Wholesale Kerosene Heaters from a China Factory

FirstSight manufactures kerosene heaters for importers, retailers and own-brand programmes. Our 4 models are all 9,000 BTU portable kerosene heaters with automatic ignition, covering indoor, workshop and emergency backup use, so you can stock a single kerosene space heater or a full range from one supplier. Because combustion provides the heat, a portable kerosene heater needs no mains power at all - which is what makes it the practical kerosene heater for indoor use when the electricity is out, and a dependable kerosene heater for garage, workshop and cabin use the rest of the year.

As a kerosene heater supplier in China we build to your market - CE and UKCA options, your own logo, housing colour, packaging and manual language. Safety is engineered in rather than added on: every unit carries a siphon pump, a safety grill and an automatic extinguish tip-over system, and a kerosene heater with flame failure cut-off shuts down if the flame is lost. A 9,000 BTU kerosene heater with fuel gauge and overflow safety lets the user see the level and refill without guesswork, while a convection kerosene heater circulates warm air by natural draught with no fan to fail.

Wholesale pricing starts at low MOQ, with samples in 7-10 days and production in 30-45 days. Bulk buyers in Japan, North America and Europe rely on our consistent quality, and our 14+ hours of heat on a single tank is what makes a portable kerosene space heater practical for overnight and emergency use. Whether you need a kerosene heater with automatic ignition for a retail programme or a 9,000 BTU convection kerosene heater for a hardware chain, our engineering team can return a prototype to your specification within 7-10 days. Ask for the full kerosene heater catalogue, certificates and test reports.
