Portable Gas Heater 2 Carry-Away Models

A portable gas heater is one you can pick up and carry between rooms, connect to a gas cylinder and run — with no flue, no wall opening and no installer.

Two models in our gas range are catalogued as portable, and they solve the same problem from opposite ends. The FS-021 is a 2.6 kW heater in a 270 × 250 × 350 mm body at 3.5 kg net — small enough to move by hand between rooms and sized for a small room or a caravan. The FS-74 takes the opposite approach: 3.3 kW from a 220 × 110 × 230 mm aluminium-plated body weighing 0.61 kg, which is what makes it usable either as a floor-standing heater in a narrow room or as a light unit carried to wherever the cold is.

Neither needs a flue or an electrical connection. Connect the cylinder and the heater is working, which is why this format sells into caravan, camper, workshop and emergency-backup programmes. Both are vent-free units and both carry an oxygen depletion sensor that shuts the heater down if room oxygen falls. Container loading is the other reason buyers choose this format: the FS-74 packs eight units to a carton, so a full 40HQ takes 10,500 pieces.

Where They Sell

The Applications a Portable Gas Heater Fits

Both models exist for the jobs where a fixed heater cannot go.

Caravans and campers

No flue and no electrical connection, so the heater can be used where there is no installed gas line and no mains supply.

Small rooms and backup

The FS-021’s 2.6 kW suits a small room, a garage or an emergency backup unit for a power cut, because it needs no electricity at all.

Narrow spaces and workshops

The FS-74’s 220 × 110 × 230 mm body at 0.61 kg fits where a cabinet heater will not stand, and can be carried to the work position.

FAQ

Portable Gas Heaters — Common Questions

Do portable gas heaters need a flue?

No. Both models on this page are vent-free and need no flue, chimney or wall opening. They rely on a flame-failure device and an oxygen depletion sensor, and they must be used with the ventilation your local code requires for unvented gas appliances.

How much does a portable gas heater weigh?

The FS-021 is 3.5 kg net and 4.2 kg gross. The FS-74 is 0.61 kg net and 0.78 kg gross — light enough to be carried in one hand.

Can a portable gas heater run without electricity?

Yes. Neither model needs a mains connection to produce heat, which is why they are specified for caravans and for backup during power cuts.

How many units fit in a 40HQ container?

The FS-021 loads 1,630 pcs per 40HQ in a two-unit master carton. The FS-74 packs eight units to a carton and loads 10,500 pcs per 40HQ.

What are the heaters made of?

The FS-021 uses a plastic and ceramic housing in black or orange. The FS-74 uses an aluminium-plated sheet body with a matte aluminium finish.

Is a portable heater enough for a whole house?

No — a portable heater is sized for one room at a time. For a whole-room installation see the cabinet gas heaters, which run on the 420 × 360 × 730 mm body.
