Quartz Radiant Heater All 32 Models Work by Radiation
Every quartz heater we build is a radiant heater. All 32 models in the range work the same way: current through a quartz tube raises a filament to a temperature where it radiates, and the reflector behind the tube throws that radiation forwards. The air in the room is heated by contact with whatever the radiation lands on, not by the heater blowing into it.
That is why a radiant quartz heater behaves differently from a convector or a fan heater. Its effect is felt within a second of switching on, because there is no mass to warm up first. It is directional, so the warmth is strongest directly in front of the unit and fades with distance rather than filling the room evenly — which is why radiant heaters are used for spot heating: a workstation, a seating area, a changing room, or outdoors under cover. And because there is no blower, there is nothing to disturb dust or make noise.
The range covers 3 to 6 tubes and 400 to 2,400 W, from the 538 × 125 × 140 mm giftbox of the FS-05 to the 705 × 225 × 490 mm carton of the FS-1724B. 27 of the 32 carry a tip-over safety switch. For a job where the heat has to arrive immediately and stay pointed where it is wanted, this is the group to specify from.

Where Radiant Heat Beats Convection
Radiant heat is specified where the target is a person or a surface, not a volume of air.
Spot heating a workstation
Aimed at a desk, bench or seat, a quartz tube warms the person without heating the rest of the building — the reason it is used in workshops and warehouses that are too large to heat as a volume.
Rooms that lose air heat
Where a room is draughty or a ceiling is high, warm air rises away before it is felt. Radiant heat does not depend on holding air in the room.
Semi-outdoor and covered areas
Radiation travels to the person rather than being carried by air that the outside moves away, so a 400 W upwards quartz unit is used under a canopy where a convection heater achieves nothing.

Quartz Radiant Heaters — Common Questions
What is a quartz radiant heater?
A heater whose element is a quartz tube, and which heats by radiation rather than by convection. All 32 models in our quartz range work this way: the tube radiates, the reflector directs the radiation forward, and the object in front is warmed directly.
Is radiant heating cheaper to run than convection?
Radiant heat warms the person rather than the whole room, so it is often run at a lower setting for the same perceived warmth. The electricity used is whatever the selected step draws — these models offer settings from 400 W to 2,400 W.
Do radiant heaters heat the air at all?
Indirectly. The tube radiates at surfaces and people, and those warm the air around them by contact. That is why a radiant heater feels immediate but does not raise a room’s air temperature as evenly as a convector.
Is a radiant heater safe near furniture?
Keep the recommended clearance in front of the reflector. Every model here is a domestic heater with tip-over protection on 27 of the 32; none of them should be covered or placed against furnishings.
Which radiant model has the most tubes?
The 5 six-tube models top the range on radiant surface, followed by 4 five-tube and 11 four-tube units. On container loading the FS-05 gives the highest figure at 6,636 pcs per 40HQ.
Are these the same as infrared heaters?
